WWED Radio is Back!

And we're back. After a week down and the unfortunate closing of our beloved GarageBand site of yesteryear, WWED Radio is back and as much as I'd like to say, "New and Improved" let's just say different as there have been a few changes in operation. The first is that now to activate the music, you'll need to click on the play button and it will fire right up. The second change is that, unfortunately, podcasts will only be able to be downloaded using third-party Freeware. I recommend Orbit Downloader and have tested it here and it works just fine.

This second change is due to copyright law being more strictly enforced and while the previous cast was fun and free, it was essentially illegal. This new format allows copyright holders to benefit from residuals by counting the number of plays on Mixcloud but does not yet allow downloads. So please, suffer through the extra step of the Orbit download option. Yes, there was a day the music died, but it's back again, and we'll do our best to make sure it gets better and better. Enjoy.

A Face Lift: WWED Remodels

Birthday, Face-lift, Facebook, GarageBand, Remodle, Vietnam, WWED, WWED RadioDavid Everitt-CarlsonWatch out for that paint can! Things are a bit of a mess around here. I had a birthday last week and decided a face-lift was in order. This growing old business ain't pretty, so please bear with me.

For the next few days, and maybe weeks, we'll be tinkering with this thing and getting it just perfect, but for right now - don't walk under that ladder - you'll just have to live with it. I've got gay interior designers running all over the place trying to sort this out. It's making me a little wonky. And somebody shut my Facebook down again. Welcome back to Vietnam. It's just like it was when I left, only commie-er.

I'm sorry if things are a bit hard to read, but nobody reads most of this stuff anyway. My best customers are here for WWED Radio, and that's going to be having a face-lift as well, as GarageBand is closing down and I'm trying out a new service in the next few weeks - so sit tight and let Michael Jackson's doctors work on this face.

As was asked of me a few months ago when I showed an old photo of myself with long hair in a tank top, "Can we have that boy back?"

Oh, he's coming back alright, just a lot better this time.

Sad News: The WWED Radio Going Out of Business Sale!

GarageBand, WWED Radio, Out of business, It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of GarageBand today and with it, the at least temporary suspension of WWED Radio.

So that means the music that you all so much love, or hate in some cases, will be going away. This notice from GarageBand sealed the deal a few days ago.

"After ten years of helping people discover independent music, Garageband.com will be retired on July 15th, 2010."

And that about says it - but we're not finished yet! If you have enjoyed any of the music you have heard here, and would like to download it, go to the Podcast control in the side bar and click, or go directly here to the library and download at will - and for a limited time only, it's all free!

First Napster died, then Mini-Nova and now GB. Pirating is getting harder and harder these days, and it's even tougher with one eye and a wooden leg, so get yourself over to that podcast and have a heapin' helpin' of our hospitality - WWED Radio that is.

And if anyone is aware of a podcast hosting service that will allow me all the 'variety' WWED Radio requires, please let me know. We pirates must stick together!

What Do You Want From Them? WWED Radio Goes National in the US!

I had a message on Facebook the other day from a charming woman in the US named Anna Smith. Anna lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and runs a website called "What Do You Want From Them?" WDYWFT? is a site dedicated to helping young managers and employees cope with the demands of management and working in small and medium sized businesses.

Anna Smith, Facebook, Germany, What Do You Want From Them, wild wild east dailies, WWED RadioBut that wasn't why Anna was messaging me at all. She was writing to ask if she could use our podcast, which I call WWED Radio, on her website. She thought it was the perfect antidote to young management stress. She went on to sell me by calling the playlist "genius" (I agreed) and "a work of art" Anna Smith, Facebook, Germany, What Do You Want From Them, wild wild east dailies, WWED Radio(and of course I agreed again) and then I not-so-reluctantly agreed once again to let her take the widget and place it on her site, but honestly, she didn't even have to ask. The widget is available to anyone who would like it - and all podcasts are downloadable in mp3 form as well. Anna's just a nice girl and did the right thing in web 2.0 etiquette by asking me. She also provided us a credit and a link, and by golly, a $$ donation to the efforts of WWED! Cheers Anna. WWED luvs U!

"Anna Smith was inspired to create "What Do You Want From Them?" by the struggles she faced managing a tanning salon when she was 20 and a Waffle House when she was 23. "I remember when I was first introduced as a manager and I was 23, every one of my employees was probably in their 40s,” Smith said. Smith created the site to help young managers share experiences and develop relationships with peers or mentors."

She said the the name WDYWFT? came from a question all managers should ask themselves before addressing employees, customers and upper management. As a marketing guy I might expand on that and start a site called, WDTWFY? dedicated to customer service. What Do They Want From You is always a good question to ask there.

Take a look at Anna's site. It's a nice idea and I think she's just in the beginning of building a large and loyal tribe. We're just happy to be the DJs! Coincidentally, Anna is from Germany and that's how she found us.
