TV Girl, the electro-pop duo—comprising Trung Ngo and Brad Petering—has been around only since August, but tracks from their new, self-released EP (which you can download for free at tvgirl.bandcamp.com) have been circulating around the Internet for weeks. The blog buzz culminated recently when EP highlight “If You Want It,” a track that samples Todd Rundgren’s 1972 single “Hello It’s Me,” was featured on Pitchfork’s popular Forkcast. “The publicity is very exciting and a bit overwhelming, so we’re just trying to take it one day at a time and figure things out slowly,” Ngo says. Expect the duo to start playing live shows in January.
And so Todd continues on in his cult-status vein be being sampled by yet another young band (this one with a Vietnamese lead singer) following clips sampled by Neon Indian, Hot Chip and Daft Punk. Rock on Todd.
